BREAKING NEWS: Swan Island migrates on “Indefinite Haitus!”

www.swanislandlove.com

Portland quartet, Swan Island, revealed to the Willamette Week that they were going on “indefinite haitus” on the magazine’s online music section, Local Cut.

Many queer tears will fall as Swan Island has been making a huge dent in queercore music history throughout the years. Here is just a snip of their queer music resume: touring the country with The Gossip, opening for legends The Blow, Sleater Kinney, JD Samson, The Organ and Tracy and the Plastics (just to name a few). They also recorded an album with former guitarist of The Need, Radio Sloan (whom was also in Swan Island for a moment), headlined the first annual Siren Nation Festival. They even got to host a music show on gay tv network, LOGO. These accomplishments didn’t go unnoticed by the Portland press either, seeing as they took a #3 slot in WWeek’s “Best New Band Poll” in 2006 and have had countless written work of praise.

As a queer musician: I would dress my andro ass in PINK LADIES UNDERWEAR for any of these opportunities so my question is: WHAT HAPPENED THAT MUSIC THERAPY DIDN’T WORK?

Lucky for fans, all members of Swan Island have other things going on for them such as rekkid spinning, film making and saving the world.

Gaycondo hopes to release an official statement from each member on where you can find each of them inspiring their community as individuals. Stay Tuned…

Well, they’d done it all. They played Mt Tabor, Mississippi Pizza, Holocene, and Wonder Ballroom. What else was there to do?
