Jon: Canadian photographer Liz Wolfe….

….and her daring juxtapositions.

The artwork of Liz Wolfe is almost entirely based around a singular concept: What is resposible for the human brain’s basic perception of “beauty” when judging the world around us? By combining saccharin colors and motifs with rather morbid  objects, she is capable of creating truelly juxtaposed images that are, honestly, breathtaking. Her work causes the viewer to reevaluate our initial visual response. When first seen, the first reaction is rather light compared to the stark themes that arise upon further inspection. The image above draws to mind archival footage of avalanche or volcano victims, and makes one ponder, “Can a person truly be suffocated by happiness?”
