KEEP IT ON THE BROWNLOWE: Björk @ Age 11

Throughout history, the creative class have made incredible impacts on both culture and society. Every now and then I think of current artistic visionaries and wonder which ones will be placed in the recognition of the masses generations to come.

One artist whom I believe will be remembered in art books and music history is Björk.

Her journey through the pop world has been an extensive and diverse adventure and started at a very young age. By age five, Björk was enrolled in music college and by age eleven she had released her first solo record.

For all the fans out there: this is simply too adorable not to know about.

Take a listen to the album’s opening track, “Arabadrengurinn”.

Hear more of Björk at age 11

Actually, it is real life (sorry, I saw this on the face place). A friend sent this album to me years ago.

Everything you have always wanted to know about Björk and even more…

Björk’s father is a big union leader in Iceland (and I swear I once read he was a composer, but everything says he’s an electrician). Her mother, who apparently had custody of her when she was a kid, claims that she didn’t live on a commune, even if Björk says she did.

All signs point to musical-kid-whose-parents-sent-her-to-music-school-at-a-young-age. Amazing, huh?
