Paul: Beau Breedlove to Pose Nude…

beaubreedlove

Well, well. Portland’s favorite little daddy-chaser is going to bear all in the May issue of Unzipped. I would take this opportunity to talk shit about how irresponsible he is being and how this certainly doesn’t help the mayor move past the fiasco and do the work that needs to be done. If I did that I’d be a total hypocrite because I am totally going to look at the pictures. Perhaps I am more able to separate what Adams does in the bedroom from what he does in City Hall, but I want to see what all the barely-legal fuss is about. I have a feeling it’ll be a let down, but we’ll see.

Don’t sleep with 18 year-olds people. I am sure Sam would tell you that as fun as it sounds they aren’t worth all the trouble.

Paul: Fast Food Not So Pretty In Person…

This is hardly surprising but fast food generally bears little resemblance to what you see in the ads.

This crap also seems to sound and taste better when you’ve been drinking. To see more nasty examples click here…

SWALLOWS: “Distant Fingers”

swallowsvpatti

The gaycondo band aka Swallows (featuring Jon + Em) will be releasing their upcoming album, Between the Sea and Sky in the coming months.

As we come closer to the event we will begin to leak a few songs off the album.

The first is a cover of “Distant Fingers”, originally written by the Patti Smith Group in 1976 and is featured on their classic album, Radio Ethiopia

For all the sonic nerds out there, we thought we would let you hear both Swallows’ version and the original and compare notes.

Jon and Beth: Dreams of “Skinzwear”…

We were drinking some cheap wine and discussing some of our plans for the (hopefully) soon to arrive warm weather. To help in visualizing just how we would be enjoying our upcoming summer beach/river excursions, we decided to look at bathing suits online. We stumbled upon what is maybe the best/worst website ever, skinzwear.com. Basically it is a weird sex clothing store for people with no taste that is masquerading as a “swimwear” shop.

Here are our choices for this summer from the fabulous skinzwear collection. We both decided to stay classy and go with a modest one piece…

Jon: “Teenage Stories” by Julia Fullerton-Batten…

British photographer Julia Fullerton-Batten‘s series, Teenage Stories, explores the way which memories are formed in our formative years, both qualitatively and quantitatively. These images seem to be making a statement about the true and imagined emphasis that we put on memories of events from our teenage years.

The girls in these pictures would appear to be placing themselves as giants in what are mostly somber recollections of awkward, embarrassing, frightening, and even violent situations. It is interesting that in these photographs, it is the model, not the circumstance that is made larger than reality. Normally when considering the overwhelming nature of adolescence, it is the events occurring around us that seem dominating and out of our control. Fullerton-Batten‘s photos would seem to be a call to reclaim these negative moments in the past as our own. She seems to be pushing us to overcome and dominate them.

Make sure to follow the link at the bottom for more images from the series….
