Despite the drama of United States Officials denying Amy Winehouse’s Visa to attend the Grammys, United States Music fans LOVE her! This is apparant in Amy Winehouse sweeping away 5 of the 6 Grammy Nominations including Record of the Year, Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Pop Vocal Album, Female Pop Vocal Performance. Ms. Franklin would be proud!
I can’t help but think her performance choice was a specific slap in the face to those who barred her from entering the USA (“You Know I’m No Good” / “Rehab”)
Performing via Satellite, Amy Winehouse put on a stellar show. She looked a little crazy but I chalk it up to having to throw your own Grammy party and perform at 4AM London time. When it was announced she won Record of the Year she resembled a deer in headlights, eyes wide, confused and searching, much like great doe-eyed Hollywood actresses from the 40’s.
Gaycondo loves Amy Winehouse. I was a bit confused that she had her own E! True Hollywood Story after only being astronomically famous for under a year…. but her winning multiple Grammy Awards tells me she is going to be a legend. I just hope she doesn’t perpetuate the stereotype of other past legends by having a tragic drug related accident… I also hope she doesn’t get through rehab and lose her spark which would be even more upsetting…
